We are a group of experienced Optometrists and Ophthalmologists committed to the profession and proper telemedicine innovation.

A message from the CoolDoctors team to eye doctors worldwide:

Telemedicine as defined by the American Telemedicine Association is the exchange of medical information from one site to another via electronic communications to improve a patient’s clinical health status. Telemedicine does not represent a separate medical specialty; rather it is a tool that can be used, by healthcare providers, to extend the traditional practice of medicine outside the walls of the typical medical practice.

Recently telemedicine in eyecare has been a hostile and disruptive environment. Platforms have been generated to bypass the doctors, turn medical devices and critical tests into commercial goods, and provide care in an instant from practitioners that do not specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease.

These companies and their technology are putting profits above the health and care given to our patients. Turning eyecare and the medical devices it utilizes into a commodity, all while portraying doctors as greedy, inefficient, and self serving.

As of now independent optometrists and ophthalmologists had no technological recourse that would allow them to offer a true telemedicine alternative to their patients to help avoid the use of these disruptive services. CoolDoctors was created to fill this need.

Our platform has been built by a team of practicing optometrists and ophthalmologists, they see patients everyday just like you. We understand that the doctor patient relationship is of the utmost importance and we have made CoolDoctors for the sole purpose of enabling you the doctor, to enhance the care which you provide to your patients.

We are not here to replace or bypass you. We are not here to put your patients health and well being in the hands of another provider. We are not here to dictate how you treat your patients.

We are here to help improve the doctor patient relationship, advance the profession, ease access to care, and provide you with more data via a HIPAA compliant and secure platform so you can deliver the best care possible, even at a distance.

We hope to inspire the various academies and associations of optometry and ophthalmology to create telemedicine special interest groups and create a system of approval and endorsement so consumers are easily made aware that some technologies are in the best interest of the patient and others are not. We will incorporate and develop new technologies into the platform to better serve the doctors and the patient's needs.

CoolDoctors is simple. We want to give every eye doctor the opportunity to provide telemedicine to their own patients. Your care, your patients, our technology.

Sincerely,
The CoolDoctors team
